Evaluation System of NEB
The evaluation system for the +2 Science program is governed by the National Examination Board (NEB) of Nepal. The assessment framework is designed to ensure that students' academic performance is fairly and comprehensively evaluated. Key components of the evaluation system include:
Internal Assessment
Internal assessment comprises continuous evaluation throughout the academic year, contributing a total of 25 marks toward the final grade. This includes:
- Practical Examinations: Assessing hands-on skills and application of theoretical knowledge.
- Project Work: Evaluating students' ability to conduct research and present findings.
- Trimester Marks: Reflecting performance in periodic assessments throughout the year.
- Attendance: Recognizing regular attendance as a factor in overall engagement and participation.
- Internal Exam Marks: Including scores from class tests and quizzes.
- Note Copy Evaluation: Assessing the quality and organization of students' class notes.
Board Examinations
At the end of the two-year program, students must sit for the NEB board examinations. These examinations assess students’ knowledge and understanding of the entire curriculum, covering both theoretical and practical components, with a total of 75 marks.
Grading System
The NEB employs a grading system based on students' performance in both internal assessments and board examinations. A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 1.6 is required for students to qualify for further studies.
Practical Exams
Practical examinations are held to evaluate students' hands-on skills and application of theoretical knowledge in laboratory settings, reinforcing the importance of practical experience in science education.
This evaluation system aims to ensure that students are not only academically proficient but also capable of applying their knowledge in real-world contexts, preparing them for further studies and professional success.
